Sister Parish

Meet our Sister Parish, St. Rose of Lima in Gris-Gris, Haiti.  Pictured above are some of the Parishioners standing in front of their Church. 
The Sister Parish Committee has worked with St. Rose of Lima Parish since 1999, helping Parishioners to build a new well, a new school and many other projects.

WHAT DO WE VALUE ABOUT OUR RELATIONSHIP?

• Getting to know the people of Gris Gris and how they live.
• Peace in life.
• Making a difference in people’s lives, which we realize through their appreciation.
• Feeling their love is a humbling experience
• Perspective.
• Learning about their culture.
• Sharing knowledge and giving financial support.
• Opportunity to be missionaries.
• Giving hope through developing expertise among the people and creating hope.
• Hearing stories of how peoples’ lives have changed by our going.  (Our lives)
• Provides a lens for us to see us as we are.  Challenges and is uncomfortable.
• Gives us a voice for political action.
• Opportunity to experience another culture/ the awareness that experience gives us.
• Increases our awareness and provides us with the opportunity to help and give hope.
• The feeling that when there (we are) on “Holy Ground”,

a feeling of the presence of God in the poor.

• Taking the time to pay attention to people.
• Understanding the universality of people everywhere.
• Opportunity to share awareness, activities, etc. with the whole parish.
