Prayers of the Faithful
6th Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 12, 2012
Presider:
Brothers and sisters:
Through faith in the resurrection, we have been forgiven and promised eternal life. With hope in that promise we offer our prayers and petitions to the God of our salvation.
Reader:
Give us eyes to see global suffering; Give us ears to hear the cries of injustice, we pray:
Give us
feet to respond to the needs in our community and in our world; Give us hands
and hearts that are open to receive, we pray:
For those
who will die of hunger this day and for all who suffer the effects of
malnutrition, we pray:
That
church and government leaders will work to insure that all people are treated
with the dignity they deserve as children of God, we pray:
For all
those in harm’s way: For military and civilian personnel serving our country
here and overseas, for police and firefighters, for innocent victims of war and
street violence, we pray:
For all
who are ostracized by society out of fear or prejudice, we pray:
For those who are ill and have asked us to pray for them: Joy Rose, Madison Marie Travers, Russ DeVoss, Kristen Brastad, Kelly Comacho, Lois Loyd; for comfort and healing for all who are ill, we pray:
We
remember those who have died, especially William Eibner the brother of Gerald
Eibner. For those who are grieving the
passing of someone they hold dear, we pray:
Presider:
Gracious God, Creator of all that is good, in the fullness of time, you sent your only Son to be our Savior. Turn your eyes of mercy toward us and grant us healing and peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who is one with you and the Spirit, forever and ever.
